May the force be with you…

no star wars hereNope. There are absolutely no references to Star Wars in the following article. Sorry. It’s May*, that’s all.

The first and last days of May were the highlights – the 1st is Rob’s birthday (33, but I didn’t tell you). Rob isn’t one for birthday celebrations so if we do ever do anything it’s generally because I’ve planned it… But this year, eek, we were both so busy with work it sort of crept up on us both, leaving little time to plan anything too major.

We also opted not to have a big night out as Lydia’s 18th bday celebrations seemed to last for most of April and my dad’s bday was only on the 29th, so we were a bit partied out.

The thought of piling out of some sweaty club in the early hours of the morning, inconceivably intoxicated and miles away from home did not appeal.

Anyway, we did that 2 weeks ago.the four seasons hampshire

Instead we went for the “grown up” option. A meal out at one of our favourite places, The Four Season’s, with our good friends Joe and Brinnie. It was a delightful evening darling. The cocktails there are AWEsome! Not necessarily related!?

His birthday outing was at the very end of the month. At Wembley Stadium for THE fight of the year, if not ever. Certainly the biggest in the UK. I am of course referring to the much talked about and eagerly anticipated Carl Froch Vs George Groves: 2 – The Rematch. #boom.

It was a-May-zing (get it?!). We were also blessed with wicked seats, right by the walk way so we were witness to all the comings and goings of Photo 31-05-2014 22 44 53various ‘celebs’ throughout the night. I use the term ‘celeb’ loosely as many of the ring side seats seemed to be occupied by either the self-obsessed tango’ed tarts from TOWIE or the self-obsessed money magnets from Made In Chelsea.

There were however a load of footballers, boxers (obviously), a handful of actors and a few musician-types thrown into the mix. My top picks 2: Jeremy Piven (Mr. Selfridge to you), and Gordon Ramsay. Meh.jeremy piven

Groves fell to the floor like the sack of shit that he is and Froch claimed his ultimate victory. Booya-kasha. Then, as if the night couldn’t get any better, both boxers left the ring via our exit.

Don’t remember Groves skulking by but Froch was (understandably) on top of the world – hand slaps and cameras at the ready people…

*At time of writing it’s not even May, it’s actually the beginning of June. But whatever.

got something to say?
