No turning back now…

It’s nearly Christmas so the seemingly endless task of Christmas card writing must begin. What’s this got to do with the Wedding? Well, we decided not to do ‘save the date’ cards but desperate for all our nearest and dearest to be there we want to give as much notice as possible… So what better way than sending everyone on the guest list a Christmas card and adding a personal note informing them of the wedding date? It sounded great in my head but 50 or so cards in, with still a number to go, my hand was starting to disagree. Nevertheless, as all the invites etc will be printed and all rather formal, I wanted to add the personal touch, so hand written it is!

Sat there with the piles of cards in front of me it suddenly dawned on me, this is it, the guest list. Is. Now. Set. A defining moment of any wedding planning and had to be duly celebrated; wine please! But seriously, as soon as those now momentous envelopes hit that letter box there’s no turning back; you’ve got your numbers and whether you change your mind in a few months or not, ‘that’ person is now expecting an official invite.

Not only that, it’s official, it’s out there, it’s going in diaries… we’re definitely getting married!! Sure, I’ve bored people I see regularly to tears about our upcoming nuptials but believe it or not some people out there, although they know we’re engaged (thank you facebook!) don’t know when ‘the’ day is… or even that they’re invited. But now they will, and hopefully those that do receive our Christmas cards with the added wedding note are able to make the day and help us celebrate in style.

Speaking of invitations, sat there writing the cards it’s finally time to draw a line under the ever-questionable ‘plus one’ issue. Who can, who cant… they’ve only been together 2 months but we know them both really well Vs long term couples whose partner you’ve somehow never actually met… oh the pain, the confusion. You can’t please everyone so DON’T TRY TO! Just keep in mind that it’s YOUR day and more importantly YOUR budget!

If there is anyone reading this that was disappointed upon receiving our ‘Save the Date’ Christmas card that you don’t have a ‘plus one’, I’m sorry… but if you’re that upset bung me  their £70 p/h cover and they’re in.

I’m kidding.

There’s no space.

As if by design, this same week Aynhoe have eventually sent through the paperwork so we can sign on the dotted line and secure our reception venue! Good job too coz as soon as Christmas is out of the way I want to get the invites dispatched and correct me if I’m wrong, but you kinda need to tell people where they’re going!

The ball is officially rolling….

got something to say?
