It’s the final countdown!

Oh, it’s all going on! I’m worried I may be tempting fate by saying this… but other than a few little last minute bits to complete; I think, think, we’re almost there!!!!

The last 2 weeks have been most productive. It’s amazing how much you can get done when you have the house to yourself and a glass of Chablis in hand. Rob was on his stag do so I got stuck right in.

There’s just so much to say, where to start… <deeeeeeeeeeeep breath>

The flowers have all been finalised after a (cold) trip to some warehouse to pick out the colours. There aren’t that many, we’re not having them as decorations as anyone that knows me, knows flowers just aren’t my thing. But kinda have to have the bouquets and button holes so something had to be done.

The wedding favours have arrived!!!! Whooooooooooooop. Won’t go into detail as then it won’t be a surprise! But I’m very happy with them. Sadly I know they wont be to all the guests liking but more than not, and no offence but that’s good enough for me!

Some bits for the cake have also come – it will all make sense on the day! Ooooo secrets, secrets. Isn’t it exciting?!

The wedding rings. Boom! Done and paid for. Very, very happy as I was getting a bit panicky about them. Just hope they  fit! We’re getting them from Petra in Basingstoke who have been really helpful (and quick!)

The rest of the printing bits (menu’s, bar price list, complementary drinks list, order of service sheets, table plan, blah blah) are all being finalised at the moment. We roped Charlotte back in to help out with these bits and the table plan is A-MAAAAAAY-ZING. Saw the final version last night and I love it. She’s done a fab job as ever.

Everyones itinerary packs are coming together. Poor caterers… their instruction pack is currently at 12 pages and still going. Hahaha. They’re going to hate me. Control freak? Moi? Pfff.

All the alcohol we’re supplying has been purchased – that’s actually the hardest part. All these bottles of luuuuuuurvely wine and I can’t touch them!!!!! The wine for the day has come from our good friend of Horne and Daughters who did a fantastic tasting for us; just hope everyone likes the wine as much as we did!

The only things that’s not so finalised… is a hairdresser. Yeah, I know… I know. 16 DAYS TO GO AND NO HAIRDRESSER!!! I’ve got a few people on the case but losing hope with every day that passes. If any of you know a hairdresser that will travel or is based in Oxford (Banbury area) and happens to be free on 1st September then plllllllleeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaassssssseeeeeeeeeee let me know!!

I’m actually starting to get a bit excited now. So I should I guess! So much time and effort is spent making sure everything is right you kinda forget to enjoy the process. Don’t get me wrong, the first few months were great! All those hours spent flipping through magazines, picturing how your day is going to pan out… but as the months pass the pressure builds, expectations rise and suddenly, not so fun any more!

But the key thing is to remember why you’re doing it. A few weeks ago we went through our vows with the Revd and it bought it all back home again. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the reception and the party afterwards but it’s not about that, it’s about those 45minutes when we’re in the church, exchanging vows and making that life long commitment to each other.

….and d’you know what? I can’t wait!

got something to say?
