Wow, doesn’t time go fast. Seems like only yesterday I was penning the ‘we’ve booked the caterers’ blog with “just” 3
months to go til the big day… and now we’re… shit; 5 weeks away. I’m not whimpering in the corner or rocking in a darkened room. Yet. But I don’t think I’m too far off. This is no way in reflection of how I feel about getting married, or about spending the rest of my life with Rob. It’s more to do with the ridiculous amount of stuff that is still to be done and the speed at which time seems to be slipping away. PANIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
There have however been a number of developments since my last post (you’d hope so eh? What with only 34 days to go!!);
The Dress: It’s made! Whoo-hoooooo!! Upon receiving ‘the call’ and going in to see it for the first time, I have to say I was a little bit nervous; will I still love it? More importantly, will it fit? Ahhh!! But as soon as it was on all my fears were
alleviated…I can’t breathe in it, but that’s incidental. Apparently.
Lighting: The lighting company have been fantastic. White Light are one of Rob’s clients are were more than happy to take care of the lighting and dance floors for the wedding. Amazing! They came with us to the venue just this week and I cant wait to see what they come up with.
Hen Do: I’ve had my hen do!!! Sorry to drop that on anyone that was expecting to be invited… and wasn’t. Shit happens. Really there should be a whole blog dedicated to the ‘do’ as it was so frigging awesome. In fact, I will, and I’ll add some pics so you can all have a good laugh. The day activity was perfect; Airsoft. But don’t let the name fool you, I can assure you those BB’s were anything but soft and we have the scars to prove it! Anyway, you’ll have to read the blog to find out more…
Decorations: I’ve been on an eBay frenzy and I think we’re just about there! I really don’t need too much as the house is so awesome itself (IMO!) but I do need to get our colours in there somehow! We’ve got all the glassware out of the garage (as Rob thinks it’s much better located there, taking up half of our lounge for the next five weeks. Don’t) and there isn’t actually as much as I thought, but fuck it, what we’ve got will do! My parents have also been a massive help spending most of their evenings religiously cutting out and making metres upon metres of bunting; bless ‘em. With the table decs complete, we’re good to go!
Honeymoon – This is still yet to be done. I know, I know, 5 weeks and we haven’t book it. Shocking. But as I sit writing this Rob is researching various places we’ve been tempted by. There was a moment there when we didn’t think we were going to get one (being that we’re so over budget) but Rob’s parents have very kindly decided to buy it for us as a wedding present. Get in!
Bridesmaid Dresses: Done, done, bloody DONE! Yay. Such a relief!! We met for a day of shopping in Reading; 5 hours and a few coffee/wine breaks later we were done! Shoes, dresses, the lot! And if that wasn’t good enough Vicky, Rob’s Best Woman, came with us and we got her dress and shoes too! We were on fire!! I’m really happy with the choices, and the colours are perrrfec’. I just hope the girls are as happy with them as I am…
There are a few other bits that are underway; like the evening buffet (thanks Dave!), the boys suits have all been ordered,
the stag do is coming up and a final venue visit has finalised where everything is going and the confirmed timings for the day… but I’m bored, which means you must be, so I’m going to leave it there and go back to my large glass of wine, which is getting unpalatably warm…
I will endeavour to be more punctual with my next post, if i leave it as long this time the wedding will have been and gone! Hopefully I’ll be able to update with hen do antics later this week. TTFN!
